Nasir Kazmi was one of the leading Urdu poets of the post-partition era. Full of
unfulfilled ambitions and tragedies, his poetry had an autobiographical feel
about it.
The intention, which moved Nasir to try his hand at poetry, was a noble one. He
wanted to forever capture the eye pleasing and emotionally moving images in his
poems. Such preservation has amounted to an evergreen and immortal legacy left
behind by the poet. Although primarily his poetry constituted to Ghazals, he was
also found proficient in writing ‘Nazms’ and dramas. ‘Sar Ki Chaya’ is one such
work in this book where Nasir displays his various talents. Conceptually it’s a
drama, masterfully construed in a form of a ‘Nazm’.
